Schreiber Honored by AICPA Tax Division as "CPA Master of Disaster"

Gerard H. "Jerry" Schreiber, Jr., CPA recently received the American Institute of CPAs’ (AICPA) Tax Division Distinguished Service Award for his extraordinary contributions to the work of the AICPA Tax Division over the past year.

“Jerry’s devotion to tax work related to disaster relief is a major foundation for the honor we are so pleased to recognize today,” Annette Nellen, CPA, chair of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee, said. “Jerry, also known as the ‘CPA Master of Disaster,’ is an expert in the disaster relief area, after getting involved in the topic in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina hit in his home state. He knows how these rules work and shares that knowledge with anyone needing assistance. His devotion to helping colleagues and improving the tax system is part of his DNA.”

Schreiber is a member of the Society of Louisiana CPAs (LCPA) and is a frequent speaker on the topic of taxation and disaster recovery. He received LCPA's Lifetime Membership Award in 2014, and was previously honored for his efforts in guiding Louisiana practitioners and taxpayers through Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, and Isaac. He was named by CPA Magazine as “one of the top 50 practitioners to have in your corner when the IRS calls you.”

Schreiber is a partner with Schreiber & Schreiber, CPAs in Metairie, La.

LCPA (lcpa.org) is a non-profit professional association serving more than 7,000 current and future CPAs statewide. It is the premier organization of accountants in the state.
